How to Lodge an Insurance Claim for Resultant Damage

Idea
If you've experienced damage to your unit and need to lodge an insurance claim, following the correct process is essential for a successful resolution. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you navigate the claims process efficiently.

Step 1: Review Your Scheme’s Insurance Policy

  • Log in to ANGOR Online and navigate to the "Insurance & Claims" tab.
  • Review the limits and excesses applicable to your scheme’s insurance.
  • Please be advised that the excess amounts and claim limits are subject to change by the insurer without prior notice, and will be confirmed by the insurer when the claim is processed.
  • If ANGOR assists with claims for your scheme, submit your claim through the "Insurance & Claims" screen.
  • Note: If your scheme deals directly with the insurance company, a call center number will be displayed on ANGOR Online. Contact them to arrange repairs/replacements, as they will submit the claim on your behalf.

Step 2: Obtain Two Contractor Quotes

  • Contact certified contractors to get detailed quotes on the damages inside your unit.
  • Ensure the contractor's report includes:
    • Name, address of the complex, and unit number.
    • Cause of the damage (e.g., roof leak, burst geyser, etc.).
    • Square meters of the affected area.
    • A detailed damage report on the contractor’s company letterhead.

Step 3: Submit Your Claim

  • Submit the following documents via ANGOR Online:
    • Contractor’s quote.
    • Invoice as proof that the cause of damage (e.g., leak) has been repaired.
    • Photos of the damage.

Step 4: Complete the Insurance Company’s Claim Form

  • The claim form will be emailed to you by the ANGOR Insurance Admin Team.

Important Notes:

  • Claims must be submitted within 30 days of noticing the damage.
  • The exact date the damage was first noticed must be filled in on the claim form.
  • ANGOR does not dispatch contractors—this responsibility falls to the owner.

Step 5: Await Confirmation from Insurance Brokers

  • Once submitted, the insurance brokers will advise you of the excess amount for your claim.

Need Help Finding Contractors?

Our Insurance Administrators can recommend contractors that they have worked with in the past.

By following these steps, you can streamline the claims process and increase the likelihood of a swift resolution to your insurance claim.
